My Personal Learning Network

When I first began thing about my Personal Learning Network, I worried that I wouldn’t have enough contacts or resources to add to it. After taking the time to really think about it and analyze all the experiences I have had through my educational and occupational practices, I was able to fill out my map. I must say I was able to fill it up a lot more than I had originally thought I would be able to. As I work towards completing my Masters of Arts in Education, I am certain that my PLN will continue to grow. Creating my PLN has allowed for me to see the importance of gathering, saving, and storing all of my contacts that can possibly benefit me for my future in education. This class has provided me with so many ways to share and store information using technology in more ways than I could have ever imagined. I look forward to implementing all that I have learned when I have my own classroom very soon! Here is a link to My Personal Learning Network:  https://bubbl.us/NDM...

Web 2.0 Tool

Many amazing web 2.0 tools have been introduced throughout the duration of this course. These tools are very beneficial when used effectively inside the classroom, and promote fun and creative ways to learn. One application that I have been using on a weekly basis on Pinterest. I have been using this tool for a variety of things in the past. This whole time I had no idea that it was actually a 2.0 tool. This tool is by far amazing! It is filled with ideas from all over the world, recipes, fashion, education, DIY’s, home projects, and so much more. Really, the list could go on for days. It is a free site that allows its users to upload, save, and manage images. These images are known on the sites as “pins.” The idea is that users create their own boards for their saved pins, and these boards are then organized according to the users liking. When I first started using Pinterest I will ad...

Learning unit #3: The Brain

This unit was by far my hardest one to create. I was trying really hard to keep my units within the subject of science for a high school level. I started running out of tools to use and had to really look into what was left on our class list that could effectively be used to teach students about the brain. This one required a lot of time playing around on the sites to find ways to manipulate them and really integrate them in an engaging manner that allowed for learning. Tagul, worked as a great introductory tool. The way I used it in my unit, really allowed students to become familiar with the new vocabulary that would be introduced along with this unit and its lesson. Also, while engaging with the vocabulary and the terminology, it allows students the opportunity to be creative and add a personal touch by providing different colors for the fonts, and by allowing students to customize their image. I found this to be a really easy and non-stressful way to ease students into a less...
